The Lightning Thief

The movie of The Lightning Thief opened today and I know some of you were planning on seeing it. Let us know what you think.  Was it as good as the book? Can you just enjoy the movie for the fun it is without worrying about comparing it to the book?

Share your thoughts with us.

Isabelle, if you check in, did you see that Borders is selling a Camp Halfblood tee shirt?

Winter Olympics

Are you watching the Opening Ceremonies?  Share your thoughts in the comments section.

I'll use this post to keep us updated about our Winter Olympics project.

Think about this statement. What does it mean and how does it relate to sports you play?

"The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph, but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered, but to have fought well." Olympic Creed

ANOTHER SNOW DAY

It's official - we're closed tomorrow - Thursday.

SNOW DAY!!!!!!!!!

I hope you're all enjoying the unexpected holiday!

I thought a snow day was the perfect time to introduce our new project. We're going to be doing our own version of the Winter Olympics as practice for the State Science Test.

Since the Winter Olympics in Vancouver are beginning just as we go on break, we'll be doing the bulk of the project when we return to school the last week in February. In the meantime though, I'm going to ask each of you to choose your favorite Olympic sport and find out more about it.

We were going to be working on this in school this week - and we will tomorrow if we have school - but you can start thinking about it now if you happen to stop by here today.

You can start at the Official Website of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.
Pick a sport that you'd like to learn more about and start researching about it.You can follow the sport next week during the Olympic week that we're on vacation and then report back to us at the end of February.

We'll talk more about this tomorrow but you can start thinking about it now - you know - while you're off enjoying your SNOW DAY!
