Tuesday

Today was a loooong morning of Terra Nova testing so there's very little homework.

Read for 15 minutes and record on log.

Complete pages 24 - 25 in Religion book if you did not do it last night.

Rest up for another day of Terra Nova testing.

NOTE:  SPANISH homework due next Tuesday - Actividad C on pages 33, 34 and 35.

MONDAY -
The main news this week is Terra Nova testing.
We spent most of today filling in the information on the answer sheet and doing practice tests. The children took the practice tests home with them so parents can review if you want to.

Testing begins tomorrow and continues all week. Our school policy is to give minimal homework this week because of the testing. The students will continue with their 15 minutes of reading each night and have one other assignment most nights.

Monday's homework is to complete, color and cut out the religion sheet.
Some students wanted to get a head start on the next religion assignment so they can do that tonight.

The most important homework is to:

Get a good night's sleep;
Eat a healthy breakfast; and

Remember to bring several sharpened #2 pencils.

Post tornado

I finally just got internet back (Sunday night).

For those of you who didn't know, Thursday's tornado passed directly over my block. The street got cleaned up pretty quickly with all the neighbors pitching in to remove the downed trees, but this is what my back yard looks like. Somewhere under all those mangled trees are the cable lines. Bless Time Warner for managing to get us back online anyway.

Just a reminder that Monday night is Meet the Teacher night. I look forward to meeting you all.

Week of September 8th

Thursday Homework:

Read for 15 minutes You don not have to respond in your RRJ tonight but you certainly can if you want to.

All About Me Bag

Prayer to remember those lost on 9/11 and their families.

1st Day Homework:

Read for 15 minutes and respond in RRJ. (A reminder - your response can be questions you would like to ask about what you read, comments about a favorite part, drawings of the scene, rewriting parts of it to change what you don't like, etc. Basically you just want to share your thoughts about what you read.)

New Year's Resolutions - typed or written on looseleaf.  Consider what your goals are for 4th grade and make some resolutions about what you need to do to reach those goals. You might want to discuss this with a parent.

Think about our class rules. What kind of a learner are you? What rules do you think are important to help you feel safe, happy and able to learn well? Think about these. You only have to write them down if you want to.

I hope everyone had a good first day. See you tomorrow.
