Week of May 31st

NYS Science Performance test is tomorrow (Wednesday). It is extremely important that everyone be present for this test as makeups are a problem.

Get a good night's sleep, eat breakfast and bring sharpened pencils.

Homework -

Math sheet - measure the diameter of the circles in inches and centimeters. Write the measurements in the circle.


Reading - Chapter 9 in Gof G and respond in RRJ

Thursday Homework -

Read pages 82 - 93  in Science COACH. DO questions on pages 94 - 96

Read Chapter 4 of Guardians of Ga'Hoole

Wednesday Homework -

Read Chapters 2 and 3 of Guardians of Ga'Hoole and answer the two response questions in your RRJ.

Science - most of you apparently finished this on with the sub, but read Lessons 15 and 16 in COACH

Tuesday Homework -

2006 Practice Science test . Look up anything you're unsure of in wither your COACH Science book or your Science text.

Monday Homework -

I had to leave early to go score ELA exams so students had an opportunity to work on the 2004 practice test for Science. Anything not finished in class was homework. Students should look up anything they don't know the answer to.

Tuesday Homework -

Finish the second half of the Number Sense and Operations review book
Finish up to page 30 in Geometry book.


We'll go over the review pages in the morning so mark anything you're unsure of.

CONGRATULATIONS  to all of you for finishing the ELA testing.  You all worked extremely hard and I'm very  proud of your efforts.

Enjoy the weekend and then it's on to Math!

ELA – 2009 DAY 3 – Read the stories and answer the short responses. ONLY do the planning page for the essay using the underlining and numbering strategy I explained.

Note for homework -
The arrow sign on pages 10 and 16  should really be  ≠ which means "not equal to".
So for problem 5 on page 16, The number of houses is > 3 and ≠ 5.


Please note that the Diocesan schedule for NYS testing remains Wednesday, Thursday and Friday even though the NYC DOE changed their schedule to Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.

Math testing is next Wednesday and Thursday (May 11th and 12th)

When you are completing this booklet, I want you to:
1. Read the essay question and bullet points before you begin;
2. Time how long it takes you to read each passage and do the short responses;
3. Time how long you spend on your planning page;
4. Time how long it takes you to write your essay;
5. Go back and look at how you could make your sentences and vocabulary stronger.

The ELA begins on Wednesday May 4th. Make sure you have a supply of sharpened #2 pencils!
