7/29 NEW UPDATE: We have the scores. I'm headed into school now to pick them up and will mail them out today to those who gave me an envelope or who dropped one off at school.
7/28 UPDATE: I know there are articles in the press that the scores have been released by the state, but we have not yet received individual scores.
For anyone who may drop by looking for info on the test scores - still nothing. NYS sent out a memo last week saying they'd be out sometime this week. I'll let you know when I send them out.
In the meantime, I hope everyone's having a great summer.

Welcome to the New 4th Grade
Note - *waves hello* to all my old students who have been stopping by to say hello. I'm answering you in the comments section.
Update - new picture 7/20/10
So how well do you know me? What's missing from this picture (besides me)?
HINT: Isabelle and Stephanie would guess right away. If you think you know, post it in the comments.)
Hi to my new class! I see some of you have stopped by and left comments for me. I can't post your comments until I have a permission slip from your parents, but I can answer your questions and respond to what you say.
Annushka - yes! I certainly plan to do the butterflies again in the spring. We really had a lot of fun with them and learned a lot about their life cycles.
Charlotte, I can't wait to hear about your book club. You'll have to write and let me know what book you choose. I love to do book clubs in class so that's something we can both look forward to.
Hope everyone is having a great summer so far (even if it is WAY too hot!)
And if anyone from the old class is still checking in - hello to you too! You're always welcome to visit and comment!

NYS Test scores
NYS has announced that individual scores will not be released until July 26th.
Students will receive the printouts of their scores in September.
Anyone who would like their children's scores sent to them over the summer should send in a self-addressed stamped envelope and we will be happy to send them when they are released.
ETA - if anyone didn't remember to send in an envelope, just leave me a comment with the address you want the scores sent to.

Week of June 1st
Last weekend homework of the year -
Do the 2007 practice Science test, then check your answers here - http://www.nysedregents.org/Grade4/Science/home.html
You can find the first 30 multiple choice answers under Scoring Key and the extended response questions under Rating Guide. That will tell you what is and is not a acceptable answer. Let me know if you have any problems with the site.
If you want extra practice - the only test we didn't do is the Sample test. (NOTE - the SAMPLE TEST is from 2003 so that's the only 2003 test.) Scroll down for the SAMPLE TEST - it's below 2004.
Review any items that you have been getting wrong. Review the old tests.
Remember to bring sharpened #2 pencils for the test on Monday.
If you want the Simple Machines page - click here - Simple Machines
Thursday Homework -
2008 Science Practice test. Do it in the test booklet.
Sorry, I was having internet problems last night and couldn't post the work.
Wednesday homework -
Religion - Chapter 9 take home test. You may use your book.
Word study - 6B
Science - choose 5 word from the list that you are unsure of and look them up in the COACH glossary. IF you can't find them in the glossary, use a dictionary.
Science/Writing - pretend you are a drop of water and write a story telling about your trip through the water cycle. (In Writer's NB)

Weekend stuff
So many of you are always asking if there's anything we need for the class. I hate to ask, but since it got so hot last week, I'm a bit concerned about the upcoming month. Unfortunately the fan I had for the classroom broke at the end of last year. So if anyone has an extra fan they would like to donate to the class, I can assure you the class and I would be very grateful!
Also, I sent out a request for paper towels and tissues as we've run through all that we had. We don't need everyone to send them, but with allergy season still in high gear, we're going through tissues at an amazing rate.
There's no written homework this weekend but since the written section of the Science test is on June 7th, I encourage you to spend some time reviewing in the COACH book.
Here's a fun site for reviewing Simple Machines.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.
